I have been using a large slicker brush, and have also tried a curry comb, although these get a lot of hair out there is still loads coming off the dog after grooming, can anyone tell me of a product that will get right into the fir, it is particuarly bad on the shoulder area. Thanks.

What the heck is a malting lab??
Im going to guess and figure you mean shedding....or perhaps molting, but dogs dont molt..birds molt. Dogs shed and labs shed CONSTANTLY, never met one, regardless of geographic location, time of year or weather who didnt just have hair constantly shedding. Tho, I have heard that raw fed dogs shed less..even the best groomed, best fed labs, are still gonna shed.
Someone mentioned a shedding blade...they work great. You should be able to find one at petsmart, or petco, or a local feed store. They also make these little shedding bricks, you can find in the feed store, looks like a square chunk of charcoal...they work GREAT as well. Furminator is also a wonderful product...but considerably more expensive than the other two Ive mentioned.
Hope this helps,

i use one of the rubber grooming gloves on my lab - that and a shedding blade work best. If you find something else that works through these suggestions please let me know!

I would recommend a good grooming at a salon. There are wonderful shampoos that have a lot of silk protein in them. These shampoos and conditioners loosen the hair, and allow it to be released easier. The second thing a groomer will do is use a powerful blower as a dryer. This blows a lot of the coat out, with our brushing.
If you don't want to go to the groomer, wash your do with a conditioning shampoo, and RINSE it all out. The best was is to dilute the shampoo 50% with water. Then use a conditioner too, diluted. Then take a shop vac, or what ever you can find in the UK, and blow the heck out of the hair in the opposite direction that it grows.
Also using the rubber curry comb during the bath will help.
Using a spray conditioner before brushing will help cut down on the static electricity too. This will allow more hair to be released.
