I have posted about this dog and his traveling partner a few times now. Just so you know the pics I have are from when I first found him, he was starving and full of porcupine quills. He is doing much better now and has gained a lot of weight. Now I need to figure out what to call him so we can tell prospective owners what kind of dog he is. He has very short shick hair, a long thin rat tail and very small delicate paws. Those traits make me think he may be part dalmation. But those ears baffle me. Look at the pics and tell me what you think.

He looks very simular to one of my mix breed dog (Pepper). She is a Dalmation/Border Collie Mix. She was a puppy from a mistake litter. Breeders breed both Dalmations and Border Collie. When they weren't looking one day they had a mixed litter on their hands.
There's a picture of Pepper below:

Sources are given to show you the two breeds.

The head is that of a Great Dane...ESPECIALLY the ears

Looks to have cow dog (Australian Shepherd) in him to me! Or maybe even some Heeler.

Looks to me like he has a lot of Australian cattle dog in him. That would explain the ticking (that's the proper term for the "spots") and also the ears.
Hard to tell the size from the photo, but ACD's are 18-20" at the shoulders, usually.
Coat color and pattern and the white feet seem to indicate some border collie as well.
Does he try to herd you, nip at heels of your kids and/or other pets, etc?

Poor dog...thank you so much for helping him!
Anyways, the first thing that pops to mind, is Australian Cattle Dog/Border Collie mix. He definitely has the body form (although petite, but he isn't exactly top-notch in these pictures, as you said) of an Australian Cattle Dog (aka Blue Heeler).

His face looks like Australian Shepherd. His coloring could also indicate Boston Terrier. So, Boston Shepherd or Australian Terrier. Take your pick.

That dog is definitely part Great Dane....he is a little small though which probably means he isn't fully grown yet but that dog is definitely part Great Dane...you can tell by looking at his head

He looks like he has some blue heeler or Australian cattle dog in him to me. After that, I'm not really sure. Glad to hear he's doing better and on his way to a good home though.

Okay, he is a dog. I have looked at so many photos of different breeds that my head is spinning. Just describe him as you have in your question. If someone wants a dog, they will take him. I think there is too many worry over what breed is mixed with what other breed to make the dog in question. He is a mutt. Lovable and looks sweet, but a mutt by any other name is still a mutt. In your description list his size, in inches at shoulder, his weight, and the physical description. Also give them the option of the photos you have. You may want to uput your photos to show a current picture posted next to the original one. Describe in detail the dogs manners, likes and dislikes.

I think it's a mix of something.
Or he could just be a mutt

He looks like a purebred American Heinz 57 to me. Some Australian Cattle Dog (body), a little Italian Greyhound (tail/feet), and some Toy Fox Terrier (ears). Throw in a smidgen of Black dog (body color) and you've got a winner.
Just like most Americans, he is a mixed bag of tricks and that is what makes him the best in the world. God speed on his journey toward a loving/forever home.

Looks to have some Heeler and Border Collie in him. I don't really see the dalmatian myself.
