my dog is very agressive and he has long hair ...i am the only one that could cut his hair...but the only way i can do it is putting him to sleep for a while...cause if i dont he will bite me when i try to cut his hair..does anybody know about a pill or shot i can use to put him to sleep for a while or like some kind of anestisia

you could try benedryl(the allergy medicine for children)

but i would put a leash on him and muzzle him, it's a great training opportunity for him to learn that you're not hurting him, and it will help socialize him.

i would suggest taking him to a professional groomer and make sure they are aware of the dogs aggression. they have the set ups to restrain the dog and could muzzle him to avoid getting bitten. i don't think knocking him out with a pill or shot is the answer. or you could get a muzzle and cut it yourself. a dog can't bite you when he is muzzled.

Just get a tranquilizer pill from the vet. And he'll be sleeping like a baby in notime. Lots of people have to use these so the word may sound bad but its not, it can actually be better of rthe dog if he has this. Because cutting its hair is obviously adding unneded stress onto him so these pills will help alot! For him and you! If hes not to old u could bring him to an obediance class (even old dogs can learn new tricks). Or if u think hes to old to learn anything new u can get a person who actually specializes in older dog training and can give u advice on how to better handle the dog. U can probably ask oyur vet or a person who trains dogs they might no someone who can triain an old dog!

Listen, he is a dog and the fact that he acting very aggressive with you and others is most likely due to the fact that he is spoiled rotten and is showing signs of dominance. What he really needs is a reality check in the form of you becoming the dominant leader in the house, not putting him to sleep so you can brush him. Go to leerburg.com and listen to what Ed has to say about dealing with dominant dogs. Do what he says EXACTLY and you may be able to save the dog and your self. Leave this as it is or cater to his neurosis and you will end up with a bigger problem on your hands then what you already have.

take him to the vet and they can give him a shot to knock him down for a bit while he is being groomed and they have to give him a shot to reverse it so he will wake up. You can't do it yourself because it is a narcotic. Don't give him people medicine or you could kill your dog.

I am not sure what it is called but it is like gravol for pets.My aunt uses it to take her dogs to the vet.It puts the dogs to sleep for about 3 hours.It is totally safe.The dogs just don't do well when driving.The bark and bark and howl when in a vehicle.And 3 hours of that would make anyone go nuts.And she can't travel without her dogs as they are blind and diabetic.

This is an issue that you really should discuss with a groomer and also your vet. Medicating him on a coninuous basis in order to groom him will cause him to have health problems in the future. You also don't want to risk ODing your dog or giving him something that his liver may not be able to handle.
