The best answer I've seen is Poodles...Poodles do not shed. They are also hypoallergenic. Thats why your seeing alot of these cross breeds like goldendoodles and labradoodles. They are trying to get the best qualities of the retreivers with the nonshedding and nonalergenic qualities of the Poodle. Obviously hairless dogs wouldnt shed...but tend to be more alergenic.

There are, I am not sure of what breeds, but there are dogs that have hair and not fur. Since it is hair, it grows like yours and needs to be cut.

West Highland Terriors don't shed... but they are very playful and need to be walked at least twice a day... they also are prone to bark and chase animals...

shih-tzu do not shed. They loose hair like humans. Heck, I lose more hair than my pups. And its not necessarily short haired breeds...sometimes they are worse.

lhasa apsos are non-shedding, they can be "cute" but they also tend to be REAL agressive (so owner beware), we had one, and if you don't like the mop look of them get him/her shaved, they end up looking like some sort of terrier. There are other non-shedding breeds, I don't know any of them off-hand, I got a doberman because they were short haired and they are "supposed to" not shed much, HA! That was a load of bull, I have to sweep my kitchen daily to get rid of all the dog hair!!! Also Pugs shed a lot, so whoever answered that short haired breeds don't shed doesn't have a CLUE! Oh my mom also has a bishon freese (not sure on the spelling) and it doesn't leave too much hair around.

Poodles and Yorkies don't shed and obviously hairless dogs don't shed. Any dog that has to go to the groomer and be clipped usually don't shed. Just because dogs have short hair doesn't mean they don't shed.

Most dogs do shed. I have a Pug and he sheds like a buffalo.

Most breeds leave some hair and shed to some degree.

There are a few who are billed as hypoallergenic but to people with allergies most dogs will trigger them.

Some are better than others.

Look at www.akc.org at breeds you like and make sure that type of breed will fit into your lifestyle first. Some of the terrier breeds are very busy and need lots of attention and exercise and are to busy for some people. Research before you jump in.

Yes, wiener dogs don't shed much but, the labradoodle does not shed at all.It is a cross between the Labrador and poodle.They are a very good dog with people with allergies.
