Dog bed soar or wound?

this soar is about the size of a silver dollar just about and behind his left front leg. It is nude of hair, puffy, a litlle pussy with red spots on it. it does not hurt when tuoched or he lays on it.

its a callus dogs get them all the time. All three of my dogs have them. This is the case if its the part of the leg that touches the ground when the dog lays down.

This is a question for a vet. Unless you want to have a nasty infection on your hands. And I hope to god that this sore is not the result of you crating a dog for hours on end. Dogs are meant to roam for hours a day, not sit in cages so that our pretty things don't get slobbered on. Sorry if this has nothing to do with you. But really, you need a vet. Until you can get an appointment, get aloe vera gel or just an aloe plant, break a shoot off it, and rub the gel on the wound. Vitamin E is good as well.

sounds like a hot spot....but whatever it is can't be accurately diagnosed over the internet...take it to the vet

Dog bed soar or wound?

sounds like ring worm or allergies. the vet can give him an allergy shot or pills that will help and get the hair to grow back. it is pretty itchy to... good luck

I agree with the answer above. The mark could be a callous from when your dog is getting itself off of the floor. This is most pronounced in older dogs and dogs that are overweight. You might make sure that your dog has a nice cushy bed to lay down on. When it is getting up from napping it will have something soft to push off of instead of the floor.

I have an English Mastiff and he has those kind of callouses on his "elbows". The vet told me that I could make little doggie leg pads so that he wouldn't get those ugly callouses, but my dog had other thoughts about that.

If you do notice that the area is getting swollen or is filled with pus, you need to take him to the vet in case it is an infection.

Also, if you notice that your dog is lethargic or not acting like himself, it is time to take a trip to the vet.
