I posted a question last night about having adopted a new cat. Well he is doing fantastic, but I have noticed there has been a lot of hair on the carpet. I don't mean like loose hair, this is like tuffs of hair, not huge, but enough. He is doing it to himself. He isn't a declawed cat, so to be humaine and to save our furniture and our skin, we put soft claws on him, all four paws. We have another cat and he has them on his back claws, front declawed, could our new cat being loosing hair because he is itching to hard with his new nails. Since he has only had them on for 2 days, could he not realize he has them on and he is scratching so hard, because he can't feel his nails threw his fur, which pulls out hair??? Both are complete indoor cats, no dogs and they are treated with frontline spray, so I know there is no fleas. And he eats good food here, and at the shelter where he came from too, so its not that. Just wondering if it could be the claws?
Cat loosing hair?
sounds like it...have you had him in to see the vet lately? i realize you have gottten him recently...what you could do is look at him..get some of those cat wipes or even just a wet wipe and wipe him down and look at his fur..if he is doing it with his claws i would think you will be able to see this..by the way the hair is coming off his body...if it continues you may need see if you can take the soft paws off if thats possible cause i have heard of them just really dont know anything about them..
Cat loosing hair?
i don't think so cause if he was scratching really hard he won't be pulling out whole tuffs of hair and if he was doing that he would have bloody patchs. when a cat gets really really stressed they will lose fur in they way you are describing.
Cat loosing hair?
Many cats just shed their fur for no reason. For example, people lose about 80 hairs a day without doing anything. Just get one of the brushes that comb out loose fur and brush them regularly. It could be just shedding.
Cat loosing hair?
First you really sould take it to the vet because there is some kinfd of skin condition. I did buy some cat bath wipes that take care of alleriges and after I wied her down I rinsed her with a cloth, This is ony if you cannot give it a bath with a vet shampoo. Also, get those darned claw covers 0off the cat!!! That could be causing the reaction!!!! Ther is shampoo that from the vet that is oatmeal based that relieves the cat and sso gibe it a bath or get those allergy wipes for cats and use a wash cloth that you don't want any moore and wipe it afterwards! Get those claws off. I bet it has an allergy! I used these wipes on mu cat that had ccrusted and bumps on her and the next day, I couldn't believe it, with those wips and prayer, all gone!!!!!! These can be bught at any pet store. Don't forgrt to rinse with a cloth and lightly wipe and get rid of tose artificial nails!!!!!!!!!! I bet allergic to those nails!
