do you let your dog/puppy live in your house? or do you let it live outside in your backyard?
if and when i get a puppy my mom said she will never allow the dog to live inside the house because it will smell and hair will fall all over the floor and furniture.
what about you?
Q to dog-owners?
My dogs live in our home %26amp; Ifeel the complete opposite as your mom. I would never have a dog if I wasn't willing to share our home with them.
I can't stand seeing dogs left out in the backyard!!!
Q to dog-owners?
both my dogs just sleep out side.............u she tell her to consider the cold and heat but that depends on were u live!
Q to dog-owners?
My dogs live in the house. They go outside when they want to then come back in. But I don't let them on my furniture - they have their own furniture that I don't go on !
Q to dog-owners?
I have to puppies. They both live inside. I dont agree with outside animals. If you are going to own an animal then it should be part of the family. It cant do that if it is kept outside in the back yard. Dogs dont smell if you keep them groomed and you can always get a dog that doesnt shed like a poodle. Good Luck.
Q to dog-owners?
i make them stay on their bed ( most of the time but we still have to clean the floor often and ive noticed that the dogs who are basically always in my room made my room smell but im starting to wipe them down with baby wipes and they don't smell so bad before they come in the house. ...but they are always in my room to sleep and my little dog comes in fairly often and follows me and my other dog likes to be inside and is a kennal dweller ( seriously she refuses to get out of her kennal and makes me drag her out) but she loves to play outside...see if you can workoutan agreement with your mom that lets your dog come in the house sometimes
Q to dog-owners?
Dogs are as clean as you keep them. My pup lives in my house and it wouldn't be the same if she lived outside.
Q to dog-owners?
my dog lives in the house. we give my dog a bath whenever he starts smelling, and as for shedding. It depends on what kind of dog you have. My dog sheds, but i don't care for that.
Q to dog-owners?
well it depends on what kind of dog u are getting if u get a big dog like a boxer or something it should live outside, but i have a small dog(maltese) i he lives inside small dogs are meant 2 live inside and be lap dogs thats the what they were bred 2 be my dog doesn't shed all u need 2 do if make sure u brushe your dog at least 3 times a day and give him/her bathes regularly and the dog shouldn't smell or shed
Q to dog-owners?
Then why would you do that to a dog?
Is this dog for your own ego? Or are you thinking of the best interests of the dog.
You should not adopt a pet unless welcomed by your family. Just because you can do something doesn't always mean it is the right thing to do. You need to wait until you have your own place and pay your own bills. Then you can get the pet you want.
And remember, part of responsible pet ownership is taking him/her to the vet and paying for those bills! Will either of your parents show responsible pet ownership and follow through as needed? Or will they say it's your problem, and refuse to provide the needed care.
You would not be doing any dog a favor by bringing him/her home.
Q to dog-owners?
no way should a dog live outside.
Q to dog-owners?
You have to let the dog live inside. In extreme heat/cold....the dog could get really sick or worse. Also, if you don't let a dog live inside with the family, it doesn't develop proper social skills and can turn aggresive to strangers and sometimes even the family. Also....what's the fun in having a dog if its going to be outside. My dog lives in the house and is like a family member....it's absolutely great!
Q to dog-owners?
Mine lives inside the house and when we first got him he had about four accidents in the house but other than that our house has never smelled bad and the hair is very easy to maintain as long as you brush the dog everyday and sweep and vacuum routinely. I would never force my dog to live outside where he is exposed to the elements. Dogs were derived from specific geographical locations and most can not adapt to certain environments.
Q to dog-owners?
Sorry but I feel a dog should not remaind outside it's whole life.
I have 2 Big Golden's and they are inside with me if I don't have them outside with me.
If this is the way your mom feels than it might be best not to get a dog at all.
Q to dog-owners?
Well first of all, you can get a dog that does not shed and just wash it and it won't stink.
The only way I would let a dog live outside is if
1) There is a mild climate, or bring him in on the cold/hot days
2) There was another dog to play with outside
3) They had several good toys outside
4) Plenty of food and water outside
5) A doggie house with a blanket or cushion in it
6) Lots of quality time with playing together outside
Good luck!
Q to dog-owners?
having a puppy is a big responsibility. there are breeds of dogs that shed a lot and some that shed just a little. depends on what breed your pup will be.
if your mom will never let the puppy come inside, maybe you should consider another type of pet, like a hampster, gerbil, kitten or rabbit . they can be fun and cuddly too!
i have 2 dogs now. they only go out for exercise and to go to the bathroom. i see no point in having any kind of pet if it is going to live outside. these animals will become part of your family. i doubt your mom would ask you to live in the back yard, would she?
Q to dog-owners?
i would not let your dog live outside. sure dogs do shed but if you dont want dog hair on YOUR furniture then buy your dog his/her own bed. I have a dog and i never have a problem with the house smelling. I would not let your dog live outside it just seems cruel.
Q to dog-owners?
Growing up, our dogs lived outside and only came in for storms or bad weather. Parents rules.... however now their dogs are indoor and now their psuedo kids.....
I however, keep my Siberian Husky, Boxer and Boston Terrier inside with me, I'm a stay at home mom/part time student and the dogs are with me 24/7. We walk twice a day, and always going out side in the yard for playtime and potty breaks, usually every two hours or so.
My husky sheds non stop, so I sweep and vaccuum my floors/carpets daily, but its now routiene so it doesn't even phase me! As far as smell, my dogs smell better because they are indoor dogs, they hardly get dirty and get their baths every couple of months and they eat a well balance and natural diet ( junky dog foods will make your dog stink too - breath-body-bottom). The only smell is the gass from the boxer and boston terrier (snub nose dogs usually tend to be more gassy because their facial conformation allows air to be consumed with food - later will come out as gass).
I recomend you try to find a puppy that doesn't shed too much, and grooming is minimal (huskys shed every day for their life pending on the climate they are in - but my boston terrier occasionally sheds). As far as the smell, if you bath your dog (but not too much because it can strip the naturals essential oils and cause skin irritations) and find a breed of dog that doesn't have a smell ( basset hounds have a scent to them etc). Also be sure to find a suitable diet for your pet to ensure a balanced diet - remember they are what they eat.
Do some seriouse research on some dog breeds and come up with a good action plan, on how you plan to walk you pet, feed it, provide medical attention and obiedence training, where the dog will sleep, where you plan to keep the dog when you are not in the home, etc. and sit down with you mom and show her your plan, then research the breeds and present her with a desired breed, that will best meet your lifestyle (trainablity, exercise requirements, grooming, temperment, size, special needs, etc) and I'm sure you both can come to a comprimise.
I wish you the best of luck.
Q to dog-owners?
Uh she doesnt realize she proplably looses more hair in one day than certian dog breeds loose ... not all dogs smell ---if you bathe them in the right shampoo%26amp; not to often ... same goes with people I suppose ...
Outdoor dogs are lonely dogs unless you plan on moving outside with the dog - its not really fair, to the animal. So maybe look at getting a pet thatdoestnt shed suggest a snake, and trantulas to your mum - she may want you to get a dog REALLY quickly %26amp; even let it in the house !!! LOL
Q to dog-owners?
My dogs live inside my house. My dogs could never live outside in the heat or cold.
The heat would kill them. When it snows it would go overtop of their head because it snows 3 feet here at times. They would get hypothermia.
Q to dog-owners?
i own 3 dogs. I have a Husky and an Australian Shepherd who live in my large backyard; and a pomeranian that lives inside.
their are some dog breeds that dont shed at all; and can be kept in the house.
it just depends on the size of the dog and your living arrangements.
Q to dog-owners?
My dogs live in the house. And when I am not home or at night they are inside also. Keeping a dog outside 24/7 is not right. I would never adopt a dog to anyone who makes them live outside. Sorry but if you can't keep him in the house, dont' get one. It is not right.
What's with these people saying large dogs should live outside? They have feelings too! I have 6 rescues here, all of them 50 lb - 100 lb and I would NEVER make them live outside. I feel sorry for those dogs who have to live outside. Sigh, there are just so many people that should never be allowed to have a dog :(
