I have been thinking of getting another dog, but a small one (something from AKC's "toy" group...like 15 lbs or under)
I was thinking of a chihuahua (long or short hair), a maltese, or a yorkie..But people sell yorkies (female) for like 800-1200!!!!!
YEAH RIGHT!
I just want the perfect small dog, something loving, a little independent at times, and not shedding everywhere!
Breed Suggestions?

I don't think you should get a Maltese unless you can spend a reasonable amount of time grooming then. As we all know, Maltese have beautiful soft fur which needs regular brushing to prevent matting and knots.
I would have said a toy poodle- which will be independent at times, provided you give him/her a good kong toy with treats in it which keeps him/her busy. Though poodles are very intelligent and needs to be kept busy.
You still need to groom a Yorkie so if you can do that, then that's good but a chihuahua would require less grooming so I say a Yorkie or a Chihuahua. It sounds like you have dogs before but believe him we do forget about how demanding and testing the puppy stages are, wee puddles, chewing your shoes etc etc. So I think it would be good to adopt a dog instead- there are plenty of small dogs in pounds and I am confident that one will suit you. Enjoy the friendship of your new companion but fi you can save their life at the same time, what more could you want!

Haha not happening for under 1000 if you dont want to adopt.

go to the shelter there r tons of small dogs purebred and mixes. what happens is people get them and think that because they r so cute and adorable, that they dont have to train it. then it goes untrained and the dog becomes a hassle and they get dropped in shelters

Okay, for the most part for the dogs you mentioned--they can be yapper dogs--inside or outside of the house and yes, you can train them--from the ones I've seen--they yap all the time.
You can get a small breed Beagle, a Shiatsu (may not be spelled right).
The perfect dog is one who chooses you. You'll have shedding for the most part of any breed of dog. You could go to your local animal shelter and get a dog that you will fall absolutely in love with and will love and protect you to no end.
You don't have to spend major bucks to have that perfect dog. It doesn't matter how much or less you put out for a dog, there are always repercussions no matter the breed or age. They can chew, urinate, poop, steal your clothes and so forth yet, you get some who don't do any of this.

The smaller the dog the more they cost to purchase.

little dogs can be quite yappy and narky if you have another dog.
maybe a shitzu, they have wool not fur so they dont malt, they are cute, get along with other animals. love cuddles and to play but are ok being on their own when they need to be.

WHAT TYPE OF DOG DO YOU ALREADY HAVE? DO YOU HAVE CHILDREN? NOT ALL LITTLE DOGS CAN GET ALONG WITH EITHER OR BOTH. ALSO MOST MIXED BREEDS ARE CHEAPER, BUT NOT ALWAYS PREDICTABLE IN THEIR BEHAVIOR. DO SOME RESEARCH ON A BREED AND THEN PURCHASE WHAT YOU WANT THAT IS SUITABLE FOR YOUR FAMILY/HOME SITUATION.

Unless you want to be grooming all the time, forget the shih-tzu or other long haired toy dogs. Take a look at the schipperke.
Pick the breed your interested in and google the breed name and "rescue".. there are organizations that find new homes for dogs of specific breeds for much less than paying a breeder for one.
my mother raised shih-tzu's .. they do indeed have fur and it certainly will mat. They need their top knots done up daily. If your idea of grooming is shaving a dog, don't get a long haired one to begin with.
