What should I do when my dog got fleas?

My dog has black bug kind of things on in her hair. She keeps scratching her body and biting around her tail and under. I gave her a good shower when i noticed those things on her. But it's hard to wash them off. And i don't know how she got those. And when i pet her, she is always scratching everywhere i touch. While I was giving her a shower i noticed that the fleas were disappearing when i wash it with water. Even if i use shampoo the fleas still managed to stay on her. But some did fall. So I didn't know what to do to make them go away.

I would suggest taking him into your local grooming salon. I'm a groomer, and we get TONS of flea bath dogs. We bathe them in a special shampoo that kills ALL the fleas. If we have to, we'll bathe them 3 or 4 times. Also, you MUST make sure that while your dog is at the grooming salon, you flea bomb your house and car! Those suckers will be everywhere. If you pick your dog up, and you didn't flea bomb your house and car, your dog will just get it again and you basically wasted a ton of money getting him groomed. Another option is a monthy flea preventative such as frontline. However, DO NOT USE FRONTLINE AND GIVE YOUR DOG A FLEA BATH at the same time. They are both heavily medicated, and can harm your dog.

P.S. This "Bozema" chick a few answers obviously doesn't do her research. A Bath is the BEST way to kill the flea's FAST. Frontline treatments are good, but are more of a preventative.

go to petsmart or a pet place also the vet and buy k 9 advantix or you can buy a flea collar but the flea collar makes your dog smell like rotten milk

I would suggest keep washing her with special 'flea killing' shampoo. Keep washing once every two days. When you see a flea, pull it out with tweezers and flush it down the toilet. I hope that this helps!

You can take her to a groomer and have it done or you can go to a pet store or even a super market get some flea shampoo follow the directions and bathe her yourself. Then get her a flea collar. Depending on how bad it is you might want to fog your house. Also be sure and wash her bedding etc in HOT water and then do it all again in about 10 days as the eggs have an incubation period.

Get Frontline Plus or Advantage and use it every 30 days religiously. These products are the best and most effective at getting rid of fleas. Baths won't do it and cheaper solutions such as fleas collars, sprays, dips and shampoos don't work well or as long and are more toxic.

I have my black lab on Forntline for ticks and fleas, it is purchased through my vet, it works great.

Give her another bath, but this time with shampoo against fleas. While your doing this pass a comp trough her fur the fleas should fall out. If this doesn't work take her to a vet to get flea shots or something to rub in the fur. or ask for advice on how to wash them out of the fur.

Go to your local vet and check him out. If it has fleas request a flea bath or a flea collar.

What should I do when my dog got fleas?

if you sure its fleas, see above or below (LOL) but in any event see a vet first, it sounds like you got a different infestation. There are a lot of different PREVENTIVES on the market ( i use frontline 4 ) well my dog is, but it is very important to use it regularly, like on a specific day once a month and in the right amount for the weight of your dog.But those are PREVENTIVES!!!! again take your dog to a vet, those people are specialized in dog HEALTH care. a groomer is o.k. for simple fleas but would you go to the beauty saloon with chest pain??? i know this comparison limps, but so does any, however a DMV dedicated a substantial period of his live do become e medical professional a groomer a couple of hours training as so the red bottle is for this and the blue one for this and here is the garden hose, but dont forget to flip this lever or there is no water.... well its your dog and your choice, one more thing, do not forget monthly deworming, it can de deadly to dogs and poss. humans but again what and how much is in the hands of a VET. If you want to own a dog , well he depends on you and your choices for his wellbeeing, similar to a child...

don't have the time or money, get a stuffed animal
