What will help my shedding dog?

I have a Pembroke Welsh Corgi, anytime you pet him you get handfuls of hair. You can pull handfuls of hair out of him. I have already gone to the vet and had blood work done on him. He has no medical issues, We came to the conclusion that he was reacting to his dog food. I have changed his food from "Purina ONE" to "Avoderm". This is the long term solutions. My question is what is a short term solution. I have hair all over everything and it could take months for the food to work. What else can we do to make everyone in the family happier and a little less hairy?

Start with a pro grooming. A good bath,blow dry and the right equipment is a real help. Some good things for you to use at home would be a medium hard wire slicker brush,a shedding rake (for the back end) and a shedding blade for the back and sides.Please don't have him shaved unless it's a last resort. cut the hair really short.. he might look weird, but it would be better then hair everywhere. do you brush him? is it possible that he is just shedding a winter coat?
