Help my dog keeps bleeding?

my dog just came back from the petstore where we had his hair cut almost completely. now he seems to be itching himself more and he keeps rubbing himself on the rug causing him to bleed often in different places.. is this the petstores fault for maybe accidently cutting wrong? or is something wrong with my dog?

Sounds like a bad trim job and maybe razer burn on the skin. Give him a bath with oatmeal shampoo hopefully that will help but I would be going to the groomers and take the dog and show them what they have done! Also have you vet take a look too!

Take him to a vet for a professional opinion.

YA can not diagnose your dog over the net

This could easily be an allergic reaction to something that he was bathed in. Take him to the vet before he has serious problems, like a hot spot. Meanwhile, wash him in dawn dishwashing detergent to get rid of any traces of shampoo/dip/etc.

he may be allergic to the soaps that they used on him. I would suggest giving him another warm bath with water only. If that does not work i would see a vet

Bring him to the vet...sounds like they used something on him that he's allergic to.

it seems like they may have used something he's allergic to...did they bathe him, too? i would call the groomer and ask them what they did to him specifically...

Take him back to the petstore, now. I have heard about similar things, but I can't say anything for sure because I haven't seen your dog before.

I would be calling the VET ASAP. Anytime your pet is bleeding you should goto or call the vet. Best of wishes.

If your dog is itching, he could have gotten fleas at the pet store. Call your vet and tell them what's going on. They may be able to tell you what to do without you having to bring your dog in. Don't let this go untreated though. Obviously, it's not good for your dog to be itching himself until he bleeds and this could be an indicator of a skin problem.

they may have shaved your pup to close and given it razor burn, or he may have been allergic to the shampoo they used. Are there any visible cuts? If so call them and ask if they are going to cober the vet bills for hurting your pup. If there are no cuts, go to the vet and get either a hypo allerginic shampoo or oatmel shampoo and rebathe him to get off what ever they used. Also ask them how much benadryl to give him to releive the itching

Could just be razor burn. Quite irritating to say the least.

Reach for hydrocortisone. Reduce the redness and irritation by immediately applying a dab of 1 percent hydrocortisone cream to the area.

Take him to the vet ASAP I wouldnt take any chances with him maybe getting infection. Next time take him to a groomer and not he petstore.

Oh clipper/razor burn. Keep your dog from rubbing as that will make the problem worse (kind of like scratching a sunburn). Could even be a reaction to the shampoo. You dog needs a vet visit to get this treated. Contact your groomer also as she needs to know that this has happened.

Was your dog long haired?

I would suggest giving it a bath, you kno when you go to the hairdresser's and all those little hairs fall down your neck it itches like crazy, right? Well, same thing for him.

Give him a nice, warm bath and wash all that is left of his fur with a mild doggy detergent, and dry it off. Chances are it will get better. If that doesnt work, then you might want to take him to the vet.

But it counds like a normal period of your dog going, what the hell... where's my fur??

Help my dog keeps bleeding?

I have seen dogs do this due to fleas or because they were cut too short( the clippers may have gotten hot) or an allergy to the shampoos used ,never till they bled though .you can wash him in an anti itch shampoo and towel dry him to see if this helps but as stated in all the other answers please take him to the vet but also call the pet store where you had him groomed to tell them of the situation .

It could be a number of things.

Yes, the groomer could have caused an irritation. This could be because the groomer was careless, but it could also be because your dog was in very poor condition and the groomer had to shave very close to get under the matts.

It's also possible that the dog is allergic to one of the products used. By rubbing on the carpet, he may have caused his own irritations.

If your dog was really hairy and matted, it's also possible that he "feels funny" with the hair gone and the air on his skin. Again, they rub on the carpet and cause themselves irritation, sores and bleeding.

And some dogs just have VERY sensitive skin, so even if they are in good shape and the groomer did a good job, they still get irritated.

Make sure you mention it to the groomer, so they can take precautions next time.

And have the vet check him over. But be aware that SOME (not all) vets automatically blame the groomer.

Vet, sounds like allergies to something and plus the vet could give the correct answer if this is just a reaction or the groomers fault for clipping to close. Poor baby:(

Help my dog keeps bleeding?

I think it is because it is itchey and it needs a bath.

Help my dog keeps bleeding?

Um...take him to the vet please!
