Which small dog do you recommend??

I am looking for a dog that is easy on the allergies, does not shead, has hair rather than fur, is calm and not typically hyper, does not typically have "accidents" when new people come over because of nervousness, does not typically bark much, loves companionship, but does not retaliate if left alone a few hours

Which small dog do you recommend??

You are better off with a stuffed animal. Everything you want in a dog does not exist.

ALL dogs shed

ALL dogs have accidents

ALL dogs bark with the exception of a Basenji

Small dogs are notorious of being quite difficult to housebreak.

Which small dog do you recommend??

I sort of agree with Pm Mom, some of the qualities you seek are just not going to happen. Any breed can have accidents, and any breed can delelop seperation anxiety if left alone. But personally I love Boston Terriers and have had great experience with them- they dont shed at all %26amp; their coat is like hair. They are very loving and have great personalities. The ones I have had have not been big barkers. They do tend to be hyper though, but as they get older this sometimes decreases... They absolutely have their calm times where they love to cuddle. They can be stubborn and a bit difficult to housebreak though.

Which small dog do you recommend??

a really good dog for you would be a goldendoodle. he doesnt shed much (my friends mom has lots of allergies but shes ok w/ him), hes very calm/quiet, can be a cuddle bug but is ok alone, and i dont know if ive ever heard him bark. the only thing is that hes quite big.

Which small dog do you recommend??

ALL dogs do these things at one point or another....But Im sure you can find the perfect dog for you without some of those traits I suggest that you go onto petfinder.com and search your area for small dogs. Under the picture they list a description of the dogs personality.

So hopefully you can find your 'almost' perfect match!

I wish you the best of luck!!

Which small dog do you recommend??

you have some outrageous criteria, but generally king charles cavalier spaniels are considered calm, friendly, loyal, and easy to care for. but pugs are cutest. :)

Which small dog do you recommend??

Haha, honey -- I suggest going to Toys 'R' Us, and buying a stuffed animal!

All dogs will shed, have accidents, will bark at some point ..

You need to think over what the definition of a 'dog' is. Is a companion, that you train and care for yourself. You need to think of these responsibilities and not think that they pop out so perfect!

Which small dog do you recommend??

Ohh ohh! Stuffed dog!! They cost like five bucks and don't do ANYTHING!

But maaaayyyybeee you could type in 'dog' on google and do alot of research then type in 'Havanese'(they don't shed, are small, cute, snuggle bugs, smart...).

Which small dog do you recommend??

I think you need to much in a dog. All dogs shed, even short haired ones, dogs need exercise to be calm and needs socializing to not feel nervous when people come over. All dogs bark in order to communicate and need to be taught how to stop barking on command. They need to be taught how to handle being left alone so they don't feel like they need to destroy things when you're gone.

Dogs take a lot of time and training in order to live happily and comfortably in your home. Maybe you should rethink getting a dog. I'm not trying to be mean, but what would happen if you got a dog and then decided it was too much trouble for you?

Which small dog do you recommend??

a teacup chawawa i used to have one

Which small dog do you recommend??

Well your criteria is difficult as all dogs will shed to lesser or greater degrees. Your opinion of small may be a problem too. If by small you mean maltese terrior kind of small you'll find that they tend to bark alot and be some of the most aggressive little rats you can get. Oh and fur is just the name for hair on animals so the hair vs fur argument is a little silly.

Though If by small you mean say cocker spaniel sort of szie. Well...... I'd say maybe a staffordshire. They have really short coats so shedding is minimal. Alot of other characteristics such as temperment in regards to being hyper can be trained in or out simply by how you raise your dog.

Every dog no matter what the breed loves companionship too, again though that's an aspect of how you raise the dog. Dog's are pack animals by nature so they always love being able to be with people.

Like others have said, all dogs shed. Some just shed less than others.

A schnauzer is a low shedding breed, but they are high maintenance on grooming, and are extremely intelligent, and therefore easily bored and prone to anxiety and destroying things when left alone. They also are efficient watchdogs and tend to bark quite a bit.

Bichons also are a low shedding breed, but again are very smart and prone to separation anxiety. They are very much "people dogs" and feel the need to be with their people always. They also can be quite energetic.

Poodles again are low shedding dogs, but are very high maintenance. They are talkative (both toy and miniature sizes) , and hyper and can be prone to submissive urination.

I think you may be better off with a short haired cat for your needs.

I agree with the above post, small dogs have a bad reputation when it comes to housebreaking. A lot of them have stubborn personalities and want to do what they want when they want to do it. My bichon fits most of your qualities you are looking for, though. She has hair, is calm (you can get maybe 2 to 3 hours of play out of her a week, other than that she likes to lay and cuddle). They are considered a hypoallergenic breed. She doesn't have accidents from nervousness, but she can be mistrusting when it comes to strangers and at times is on the yappy side (this is rare for her but common in a lot of small breeds). They are definitely people dogs, my dog would have you carry her around everywhere if you allowed it. She does fine left in the cage for around 7 to 8 hours on weekdays while everyone is at work or home. My suggestion would be to go around and look at the adult dogs available in shelters unless you have extreme patience and time to train the puppy. Remember not to rely strictly on common characteristics in the breeds because you can get one that does not match the breeds behavior at all.

Which small dog do you recommend??

You shouldn't get a dog.

Which small dog do you recommend??

I have Maltese and Maltese/Lhasa Apso. They are very wonderful dogs and have all the qualities you are look for. They do need to be trimmed and groomed regulary but I don't mind. They all love the one on one.

Which small dog do you recommend??

Considering that you need a very low-maintenance dog I would recommend to steer clear of Yorkies. My wife and I own a precious little one, but she has been very very difficult to house train, and she does shed a little.

If I were to recommend any dog to meet your criteria I would recommend a toy poodle. My parents own a female poodle and she doesn't shed enough to mention, is the definition of "lap dog", and learns exceptionally fast.

Bichon or a Havanese. They're the best! They are both in the same family, but the Havanese tend to be a bit more expensive. Havanese can be multi-colored, Bichon Frise are only white.

We have 3. My husband has terrible dog allergies, but is fine with these. They do not shed, but require lots of brushing to prevent mats.

My husband likes them because they are sturdy enough to almost classify as a 'real' dog :) But not too large -- we can pick them up and carry them no problem.

They are known for being "merry." Very even-tempered. Barking seems to be more of an issue for the Maltese. Actually "yapping."

You'll need to work on preventing separation anxiety, but this can be done without too much effort. Our 3 can be without each other, alone for hours, at the kennel without us. Perfectly fine.

All dogs can have accidents especial seniors and puppies. No such breed of dogs that doesnt have accidents. No such dogs that doesn't bark, plenty of dogs that love companionship, many of those dogs don't do well when left alone for few hours, no dog bred is completely shedless

All dogs no matter what breed are generally hyper. No dogs I know that has hair, not fur. unless you are thinking of the Chinese Crested or Hairless Terrier, they have a fine almost invisable down, the Chinese Crested has a fluffy fur bit on the head, and legs

PLEASE IF YOU ARE THINKING OF BUYING A DOG PLEASE CONSIDER ADOPTING FROM A SHELTER, DON'T BUYPASS THE ADULTS, ADULTS ARE NOT SOMEONE ELSES PROMBLEM.

NEVER BUY FROM A PETSTORE OR BACKYARD BREEDER

Golden Retrievers are HEAVY SHEDDERS, THERE NOT GOOD WITH PEOPLE WITH ALLERGIES.

GOLDEN RETRIEVER CAN SUFFER FROM ALLERGIES TOO.

Go to next day pets,

That is a dumb question you don't need a dog with what you are asking for doesn't exist !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

GET Astuffed animal I MEAN TOY!!!!!!!!!!GET REAL,,,,,,,,,,, Don't know much about a living critter I SUPPOSE YOU WANT IT TO FEND FOR ITS SELF TOO..............

Don't bother with one!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Which small dog do you recommend??

Maltese shed very little because they have no under coat, but they do need a lot of grooming (bathing, brushing, etc). The rest is just how well it's housebroken and depends on the personality of the dog.
